How to use this
A starting point, not a substitute for the report
Every holding here is a plain-English summary written for this site, not an extract from the judgment. Before you cite anything, pull the official report and read it: the summary tells you whether a case is worth your time, the report tells you what it actually says.
- Entries marked no longer good law are kept on purpose. They remain in the library so a case that has been overruled is not picked up by mistake, and each one names the decision that displaced it.
- Always confirm a case has not been departed from or overruled before you rely on it.
- Malaysian judgments are published by the Judiciary and through the subscription reporters; the citation here is what you need to find them.
